Leanan Sidhe and the 27 Club

Leanan sidhe is known to be a beautiful muse in the legends of the Celtics.   W.B. Yeats has a different point of view about this spirit which focused more on her vampirism:

“The Leanhaun Shee (fairy mistress) seeks the love of mortals. If they refuse, she must be their slave; if they consent, they are hers, and can only escape by finding another to take their place. The fairy lives on their life, and they waste away. Death is no escape from her. She is the Gaelic muse, for she gives inspiration to those she persecutes. The Gaelic poets die young, for she is restless, and will not let them remain long on earth—this malignant phantom.”

The beauty of the Leanan Sidhe is said to offer inspiration to the artist, but it often ends up in insanity and unexpected death due to the extreme devotion of the artist.  This creature often presents themselves to those amateur or beginners who are trying their luck.  The Leanan sidhe will lure them on a promise that they will achieve greatness with her guidance.  But as she was providing these artists with inspirations, she will suck the talent out of them.  Their feeding of creativity will end up in madness of the artist.

Unlike other vampires who would feed on blood, fear or life force, the Leanan Sidhe satiate their hunger by the creativeness of their victims.  Their often target are those who have high hopes of becoming a huge name in the business.

Can this creature be responsible for the premature death of the members of the 27 club?  They are those artists who died at a young age which consists of big names in the industry of entertainment like Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse, etc.  There are more than 40 artists who died at the age of 27.
