Forbidden City

Beijing, the capital city of the Mainland is being haunted by its creepy past.  In a place crippled by a horrifying history, it is not surprising that Beijing is frequented by ghouls during the ancient imperial regime.   Most of these stories have haunted our ancestors and continue to torment the Chinese people up to these days.  While most of these legends have yet to be proven, other spooky stories are well-documented and are comprehensively studied by the experts and specialists.  Other places are also associated with unexplained events that send shivers down the spine since the ancient civilizations.

The Haunted Forbidden City

Despite of the fact that the Forbidden City is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the central city, the six-century history packed in the walls of the Forbidden City makes it virtually frightening.  It was a mute witness on the horrors of the past 2 dynasties; Qing and Ming Dynasty.  Furthermore, it holds a lot of secrets that wasn’t foretold on the pages of the history books.  It is a known fact that going against the will of the imperial family is considered as act of treason and will be subjected to numerous gruesome punishment or worse death.  Theoretically, execution is a norm during the ancient dynasty, murder is also often committed by the jealous concubines and the Chinese authorities who want to acquire higher power.  The Forbidden City is typically plagued with horrors and unconceivable death that happened in the past and most of them have remained unsolved which lead to the rise of the violent souls and spirits that are seeking for judgment up to this day.

The first recorded bizarre event in the Forbidden City can be traced back to the 1940s during the time of its renovation.  The government back then was planning to establish the place as a prime tourist spot by incorporating a historic museum that will house some of the most important artifacts of the Chinese History.  Guards were assigned all over the City to increase the security and it was during that time when the guards have attested to the fact that something bizarre is occurring within the City.  Some of the documented cases of haunting includes the incident of an animal running hastily during the night and will disappear during the day.  There are also reported cases of a crying woman that is believed to be the spirit of a concubine that was killed.  Others claimed that it is a spirit of a woman who committed suicide during the Ming dynasty.

For an unknown reason, the walls of the Forbidden City are kept shut during night time.  Compared to most of the prime tourist attraction, the people are only limited to access the Forbidden City during the day.  The haunted activity is also referred to as one of the reasons why authorities choose to close the premises at night time.
