Nebuchadnezzar, Suffering From Clinical Lycanthropy Or Cursed By God?

Daniel 4:33

Immediately what had been said about Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from people and ate grass like the ox. His body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird.

Daniel 5:21

He was driven away from people and given the mind of an animal; he lived with the wild donkeys and ate grass like the ox; and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven, until he acknowledged that the Most High God is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and sets over them anyone he wishes.

He was said to be the builder of one of the most architectural masterpiece in the history of mankind, the magnificent city of Babylon.  Babylon includes the Temple of Marduk, the hanging gardens and the Great Babylonian Wall.

At the height of his glory, it was reported that the King Nebuchadnezzar went insane.  His rational thinking and the ability to understand and grasp knowledge instantly disappeared.  Based on the studies, Nebuchadnezzar was suffering from a rare mental disability called Clinical Lycanthrophy, this disease can cause a man to imagine himself transforming into an animal and exhibiting various actions of an animals (mostly werewolf).

The case of Nebuchadnezzar was documented in history such as the works of Berossus who is a Babylonian priest that documented about his sickness, Eusebius and Megasthenes who both said that Nebuchadnezzar is being possessed.

It was said on the Bible that Nebuchadnezzar would gnaw on grass and exhibits the animal behavior due to demon possession.  The account was written primarily in the book of Daniel.  It might have been a horror for Daniel to see the most powerful man turned into a beast for 7 years.
