Converse Werewolf of Texas

Converse, Texas, is a well-developed area. It is not the usual place that you will associate with paranormal, ghost sighting, vampires, and other cryptid creatures. It is a small, heavily-populated town that has a strong sense of community. However, before it became a civilized and a city for growth, the place was a vast arid plain filled with ranches. It is also the birthplace of the eerie story about the Converse Werewolf.

 

The Legend of the Converse Werewolf

 

A long time ago (around the 1800s, they say), a man moved into the place that we now call Converse, Texas. In some versions of the story, it was noted that the man was a military veteran. He wants to live his days quietly and overcome the trauma brought by the war. He had a son, who was somehow a disappointment to him. The son preferred studying to hunting, and the man decided to make a man out of his boy. Little did he know that this would start the gruesome story of the Converse Werewolf.

 

The First Alleged Sighting of Converse Werewolf

 

The rancher sent his 15-year-old son into the wild to kill a deer, a coming-of-age task.  The boy went out on his mission to hunt a deer.  He entered a dense forest area, hoping that it would be flocked with a group of deer.   However, as he entered the site, he found himself being hunted by a giant beast, which is supposed to be the Converse Werewolf.  He immediately decided to retreat home and tell his father about the beast.

 

Unfortunately, the rancher did not take the Converse Werewolf story of his son seriously.  He thought that the accounts of the story were a rip-off from a book of supernatural.  He reiterated to his son that he had to go back to the woods and make his first kill.  The boy decided to obey his father and went back to the woods.  However,  few days after being gone in the woods, the young man still has not returned to the ranch.

 

The Discovery

 

The villagers, together with the rancher, formed a search party to find the young man.  Not long after they were conducting the search, the rancher heard a noise from a distance.  Hoping that he found his son, he approached the location where the noise was coming from.  To his surprise, he saw an eight ft. tall creature resembling the appearance of a wolf and an ape that was devouring the flesh of his son.  The rancher managed to fire shots before he retreated into the woods. After seeing the gruesome sight of his child, the rancher died due to depression. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to see a newspaper that supports the story of the Converse Werewolf.
